Winter Trend: The Blanket Scarf

Recently, I have been seeing SO much of this scarf all over Pinterest and Tumblr.

It may be out of stock at Asos, but you can find a similar one here.

Better yet, I found this knock-off at Target!

Its sold out online, but Target's website has a feature that allows you to see if your local store has it in stock. Luckily, my store did and I picked up this dupe for roughly $14 because scarves were an additional 20% off. Can't beat that deal! They even have a lot of similar ones in different colors. Definitely get it quick because I know these are going to sell out!

Here's a picture of me wearing the one I got from Target with my new jacket from Old Navy. I think they look great together and both are great transition pieces.

What do you think of this scarf and how would you wear it?

RECRUITMENT

I have been so busy with school, clubs, and recruitment! I just had to tell you all about it.

Recruitment started on a Sunday with Round Robin. However, I do not have any pictures from that day. I go to a smaller school up north and there's only four sororities, so it definitely does not compare to the south, where Greek Life dominates, but I still had fun.

For Round Robin, we went around in our groups, mingled with each sorority for 35 minutes and watched a short video at each one.

Shirt - Tommy Hilfigure / Pants - J Crew / Shoes (Similar) - Steve Madden / Necklace - Etsy / Earrings - Kendra Scott / Bracelets - Alex and Ani

The second night we went to two of the four sororities. It was informal rush, so it was pretty casual and just mingling.

Tip: Sororities love Alex and Anis. I was sure to wear mine almost every day of recruitment because it was a great conversation starter.

Cardigan - J Crew Factory / Shirt (Similar) - J Crew Factory / Pants - J Crew / Shoes - Sperry

The third day was the same as the day before; we just mingled with the other two sororities.

Dress - Lilly Pulitzer / Shoes - J Crew Factory / Necklace - J Crew Factory

On the fourth day, our Rho Gammas texted us around 4pm to let us know which sororities invited us back for preference later that night! I got invited back to three of the four.

Preference was two nights and each night two of the sororities held their event. The first night I went to one preference. This picture is me and my roommate at our first preference night.

Tip: I wore flamingos because I figured it would help me stand out. It definitely did! No one else was wearing flamingos and it helped them remember me!

Dress - Lilly Pulitzer / Cardigan - Tommy Hilfigure / Shoes (Different Colors) - J Crew Factory

I wore my favorite Lilly dress, which I thought was appropriate because it's a little less summery, to the final round of recruitment. On the second preference night, I went to two of the sororities, including my top pick.

Shirt - Vinyard Vines / Pants - J Crew / Purse - Fossil

Bid day was all sorts of emotions. Our Rho Gammas texted us at 4pm to let us know if we had a bid or not. I was a mess all day waiting for that text.

At 6pm, we met in a room with everyone who received a bid. Since it was informal rush you could receive more than one. There were seats set up for us in alphabetical order with our bids on our chairs. I received a bid from my top two sororities.

All of the Rho Gammas lined up and we guessed which sorority they were in.

Finally, we opened our bids and broke into groups by sorority.

We took this picture inside. Then, we ran outside one sorority at a time. When we got outside the girls greeted us with flowers, balloons, picture frames, chants, and hugs. It was so exciting to receive a bid from my top choice!

This is a picture of my pledge class! It was such an exciting experience and I am so happy to share it with all of you! Let the pledging process begin. . .

Dorm Tour

New Jersey schools start late, thus this is a little late as I was still getting settled. I thought that this would be fun to share. If you have any questions as to where I purchased anything, just ask!

My friend Sam and I live in an on-campus apartment together. We have a kitchen, bathroom, and living room. Here are some pictures from my areas of our bedroom!

We hung this sticker, liquid chalk board on our door.

Right next to the door is my five-drawer dresser. I also have a cute cork-board from the Container Store hanging.

Here's a close up of my dresser. I have a picture of my friends, a canvas bin holding all of my hair products, lotion, a monogrammed Lilly tumblr, my jewelry, body sprays/perfumes, and some other knickknacks.

We were both also given a wardrobe. I have some milk crates on top for storage. Inside I only have some dresses and button-ups hanging. I have my shoes on the top shelf and some purses hanging on a command hook.

On my wall I have my initials that I made. They are in the Lilly print Lobstah Roll. I also have my necklaces hanging on a chevron canvas.

Here is a close up of my necklaces. I purchased this on Groopdealz.

My desk faces my bed.

My lamp is from target. I also do my makeup at my desk so I have a mirror and some q-tips. My makeup brushes are in a monogrammed acrylic pencil cup from Design Darling.

My pillows are from Target and the monogrammed one is from Zazzle. The polka dots are from Etsy and the monogram was from another Etsy shop.

The string lights are from Target.
I hope you like it!

Throwing Shade (Not Really)

I was never a sunglasses person; I own about two pairs and they're both relatively basic. As I'm writing this, its snowing where I live in New Jersey. Lately, I been exploring Ray-Ban's website and finding so many cute sunglasses that spark my interest. I think the weather is making me anxious for summer!
Like I mentioned, I am rather basic in the sunglasses department. I typically stick to aviators because I think they flatter my face best. I couldn't find the exact pair that I'm wearing but it is this style. I also own a pair of Clubmasters that I got for a steal. I've had my eyes on some Classic Wayfarers for awhile, but I saw so many unique and new styles online!
I am obsessed with this pair of aviators. Everything about them! I think they're very different, but still classic. I mentioned how much I like aviators and I also love tortoiseshell so this pair is perfect!

Ray-Ban also seems to be toying a lot with the colored lenses trend. The green pair has really grown on me. I like them because they are unique, yet subtle (and aviators).

I think its apparent that velvet has been a big trend recently and I think its really cool that Ray-Ban was able to incorporate this trend in their Erika glasses, which come in several velvet colors.
I also really like the Erika glasses in general. I feel like they're kind of a wayfarer meets aviator look. Almost like a more feminine wayfarer which is super cute!

Thank you so much for reading!

What sunglasses have you been liking for the summer?

Birthday Wishlist!

My birthday is coming up, April 4th to be exact, and this year there was nothing that I really wanted. Yes, I'm a shopaholic so of course I always have my eye on a few things, but there was nothing I was dead set on. I figured I would ask from some basics, which would never do me wrong.
There is something about these sneakers that I really love. I think these Vans for J. Crew sneakers are perfect for the spring and summer. They're so simple but the lace makes them different. They'd be adorable with rolled jeans or chinos.
I do own a few pairs of Sperrys but I've always had my eyes on this leather pair. I've gotten so much use out of my other pairs that I know I'll wear these classics a ton!

Last semester, in my healthcare class, a girl turned to me and said "feel these shorts." She was wearing this pair of Krass & Co. shorts and they were honestly so soft. The texture was like no other athletic short and they come in so many cute designs. I've been going to the gym a lot recently so I would definitely love a pair!

My recent health kick has induced a constant craving for more Lululemon clothing - it's perfect motivation! My next purchase will most likely be a jacket because they're perfect for wearing to and from the gym. I specifically pointed out the design on this jacket because I love everything about it. There's also a really cute lavender one that I like.

I saw these earring on Tumblr awhile back and fell in love. I love this whole sparkly, statement earring trend. They look so cute with your hair up and they're a great price!

I own about five pairs of J. Crew Pixie pants in multiple colors and I have had my eyes on this tuxedo stripe pair. However, I never pay full price for any of my Pixie pants and definitely couldn't justify doing so on this pair. But, they just so happened to go on sale around my birthday and I wasted no time sending my mom that link.

I am a huge fan of J. Crew's Drapey Tee (I think that's what it's called). In the winter I got a few pairs and I noticed they are selling more this spring. I think they're great for a casual outfit but very flattering. They have a lot of solids but I really like the striped ones they have out now.

This is a reach because it's already sold out (so I can't include a link - sorry!). But I absolutely love this patchwork Shep Shirt from Vineyard Vines. I did mention this shirt awhile back when there were still some mediums in stock, though. . .

Again, I am definitely not expecting all of this! I just mentioned what I could find that I liked to my mom and I'm excited because I know I'll have plenty of surprises! What was your favorite item on my birthday wishlist?

Thanks for reading!
